Sri Pelancongan Sabah Sdn. Bhd. or SPS often referred as, was established in 1977 as Sri Pelancungan Hornbill Sdn. Bhd. and reactivated and restructured in 2001 as Sri Pelancongan Sabah Sdn. Bhd. (SPS) to supplement and complement the roles of Sabah Tourism Board in promoting and supporting the State’s tourism industry.
Our company focuses are in the areas of event organisation, communications via publicity and publications and the promotion, supply and sale of local handicrafts.
SPS plays a vital role in organising and promoting events for STB, including the annual Sabah Fest and Mt. Kinabalu International Climbathon to name a few.
The organisation is also responsible for the production of STB’s official monthly tourism publication, ‘Sabah Malaysian Borneo’ (SMB) magazine. The magazine was introduced in March 2001 and features highlights and happenings around state while promoting various places of interest. The SMB can be found at the STB and SPS Tourist Information Counters, hotels, libraries, restaurants, and even carried on-board selected Air Asia and MASwings flights. Other publicity work include radio and television promotions and design of collaterals, promotional material and billboards for STB.
The Trade & Merchandise Department of SPS also runs Kadaiku, the company’s own souvenir and handicraft which proudly carries 100% authentic Sabahan merchandise. SPS also sources and supplies handicraft to interested parties for various purposes including corporate gatherings and MICE exhibitions. In the production of new handicraft items, SPS works closely with rural suppliers in assisting and creating business opportunities for the creating supply and sales of new items
