Takinan (KB)

The Takinan Hand-woven basket is the specialties of the Kadazandusun community from Kota Belud, Sabah. This basket is woven from strips of dried bamboo and is tied to four rattan stands using rattan.  In the olden days, a full-sized Takinan would be used by the Kadazandusun to store paddy rice.  Nowadays, it has been adapted for more commercial use and miniature versions make useful pen and pencil holders as well as vases for dried flowers.
